PALPA: Protesting the murder of the president of Kapilvastu chapter of VDC Secretaries’ Rights Protection Centre on Saturday, local bodies in Palpa shut their day-to-day work on Monday. The protest affected daily works of DDC, Tansen Municipality and 65 VDCs in the district. — HNS

Rautahat shootout

RAUTAHAT: A mill worker was critically injured when an unidentified armed gang opened fired on him in Rautahat on Sunday. Bachcha Dewan, a resident of Gaurda-8 who was working in a saw mill in Dumarwana VDC, sustained bullet injuries in his left arm, police said. Dewan has been taken to Birgunj for treatment. A Terai Army leader claimed responsibility for the attack. — HNS

Starvation threat

DHADING: People in Tipling, the northern mountainous part of Dhading are facing hunger after a fallin potato production this year. Potato is the major crop in the region and it is also used to purchase rice. — HNS

Body found

TANAHUN: The body of a youth who was missing since Friday was found in Tanahun on Monday. Resham Bahadur Pun, 18, a resident of Muli of Myagdi, who was missing from Aabu VDC-7 was found dead on a dam of Marsyangdi River, police said. — HNS

Terai Army cadre held

RAUTAHAT: A cadre of Terai Army was arrested along with weapons in Rautahat on Sunday. Raji Shahani, a resident of Raghunathpur-1, was held from Raghunathpur VDC while he was spreading terror by brandishing weapons under the influence of alcohol, police said. Locals thrashed him and handed over to the police. — HNS
