Three killed in mishap

RAJBIRAJ: Three persons died and 40 others were injured when a bus ferrying a wedding party of 60 overturned in Saptari’s Khoksar Prabaha on the East-West highway on Thursday night. Dev Kumar Yadav of Jagatpur-3 died on the spot while Manoj Shah of Jagatpur-5 and Bhutai Ram of Rajpur-4 died on the way to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, police said. Seriously injured 11 are undergoing treatment at BPKIHS while others are being treated at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj. — THT Online

One killed

HETAUDA: A boy was killed in a bomb explosion which was detonated to catch fish in Rapti River in Makwanpur district on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Sujan Bhujel, 11, a resident of Handikhola-8, the police said, adding that a rock that had splintered from a boulder due to the blast had killed Bhujel. — THT Online

Highway obstructed

HETAUDA: A child was killed when he drowned in a ditch dug by a nearby factory on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Rambabu Gautam, 5, of Basamadi -1. The kin of the deceased and the locals obstructed the east-west highway following the incident demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and action against the culprits. They also vandalised the office of the factory and destroyed its documents. The agitators obstructed vehicular movement on the highway since 4 pm. They threatened to obstruct the highway until the victim’s family were provided with adequate compensation. They also accused the industry of causing air and noise pollution badly affecting the health and environment of the people living in the area. — THT Online
