KHOTANG: An unidentified gang shot dead a CPN-Maoist leader in Sotang Village Development Committee in Solukhumbu district on Sunday night. Five dead

DHANGADHI: Three peoples died and other three injured when Mudslide buried them at Dododhara Village Development Committee-7 in Kailali district while they had gone to dig out red oil for scrubbing houses. Police identified the dead as Durga Upadhyaya, 12, Apsara Nepali, 24, and Gauri Dhungana, 14, of Dododhara-7. Injured villagers, Basu BK, Tara Nepali and Nandi Saud have been taken to Nepalgunj for treatment, a local said. Meanwhile, two children of Ramashikharajhala Village Development Committee-7 in the district, who had gone missing since Monday, were found dead on Tuesday. Police identified the children as seven-year-old Indra Jethara and nine-year-old Parbati Jethara. — HNS

Three held

PHIDIM: The police on Tuesday arrested three persons on the charge of abducting a CPN-UML activist in Panchthar. Earlier, locals had freed UML area no 2 member Aaitraj Laksam when cadres of CPN-Maoist and Limbuwan Rajyaparisad abducted him from his house in Nagi-2 three days ago. Tanka Laksam, Sher Bahadur Seling and Man Kumar Mahat of Nagi-2 were detained following the information of locals that they were involved in the abduction, the police said. The arrestees are under the police investigation. — HNS

Three hurt in blast

SARLAHI: Three commoners were injured in an explosion in Malangawa on Tuesday. The police said Sunil Mishra of Malangawa Municipality- 8, Lal Babu Shah of Malangawa municipality-6 and Pramod Jha of Salempur VDC were hurt in the blast. All the injured are undergoing treatment, the police said. — HNS

India aids campus

PHIDIM: Construction of Girls’ Hostel in Panchthar Multiple Campus was completed with the financial assistance of the Indian Embassy. Campus chief Ganesh Prasad Bhandari said 1,500 students have been studying in the campus. The hostel building has 26 rooms and can accommodate 175 students, he said. — HNS

Bhaktapur: Khwopa Engineering College on Tuesday blamed Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) of delaying to give approval for the enrollment of students in Bachelors in Engineering despite meeting all the required criteria.
