BAITADI: A child has been missing after the Seti river swept him away on Monday evening in Baitadi district. Bikram Bahadur Saud of Thaladanda Village Development Committee-6 in Baitadi, who had gone to the river to take a bath along with his friends, has been missing, a local, Birendra Saud, said. —HNS

School swept away

BAITADI: Students of the Naulo Primary School in Thalakanda Village Development Committee-8 of Baitadi district have been studying in the open after a landslide triggered by torrential rain swept away their school on Sunday night. The five-storey building, some 60-km from the district headquarters, was buried by the landslide, said teacher Chandra Singh Saud. — HNS

Four held with drugs

BARA: Police arrested four persons along with heroin from Dumarwana in Bara district on Monday. Those arrested are: Deepak Dhakal of Kathmandu and Shuk Bahadur Lopchan, Utsav and Dhruba Gurung of Dumarwana, police said, adding that 15 packages of heroin were seized from them. — HNS

Eight hurt in mishap

TANAHUN: Eight persons were injured when a bus heading to Sunauli from Pokhara turned turtle at Byas Municipality-1 in Tanahun district on Tuesday. Among the injured, six are undergoing treatment in Damauli Hospital and two in Byas City Hospital, police said. — HNS

120 mishaps in a year

KAPILVASTU: Kapilvastu saw 120 road accidents in which 35 persons were killed and 80 injured last year, District Traffic Police Office said. Revenue worth Rs 241,245 was collected from 3,389 vehicles, which violated traffic rules in the district during the same period, police inspector Basant Rajitkar said. — HNS

Fertiliser seized

KAPILVASTU: Police seized a truck loaded with 140 sacks of illegally imported urea fertiliser from Birpur Village Development Committee on Monday night. Police seized the truck acting on a tip off that it was entering into Nepal without paying taxes, police said. Police also seized another truck loaded with 200 sacks of illegally-imported fertiliser from Jawabhari. — HNS

Dysentery claims one

DANG: One person died of dysentery in Dang district on Tuesday. Indralal Khatri, a resident of Triveni village development committee, died while undergoing treatment in Tulsipur Primary Health Post. Over 26 people of Kanshipur village have been suffering from dysentery, according to Dr Basanta Lamichhane. People from Shreegaun and Shantinagar village development committees were also suffering from the disease. — HNS

Held with animal skin

KATHMANDU: Police arrested two persons along with rare animal skins from Kohalpur of Banke district on Tuesday. They were taken under control with the help of Wildlife Conservation Nepal, an NGO working for the conservaton of wildlife. Taradevi Rokka and Gaurikanta Aryal were arrested while the two were trying to sell the hides of leopard at a local market, said Buddhi Ratna Dangol of Wildlife Conservation Nepal. — HNS
