10 families displaced

CHANDRANIGAHPUR: Ten families of Maryadapur VDC-1 in Rautahat district have been displaced due to flooding in the Lal Bakaiya River. The flood caused the houses of Bhuwan Mukhiya, Nesar Mukhiya, Kachahari Mukhiya, Ram Sawat Mukhiya, Sarwan Mukhiya and Jeetan Mukhiya, Ram Babu Mukhiya, a local said, add ing that the displaced had been forced to put up in their relatives’ houses. Locals said floods displaced them every year because embankments along the river were not repaired. The displaced have demanded authority concerned to provide relief. — HNS

Children on agitation

ITAHARI: Children of Sunsari district took part in a street agitation on Friday, demanding authorities concerned to make public the status of missing Dinesh Uranwa, a domestic help in the house of Ramananda Meheta. Meheta is a loan officer at the Agriculture Development Bank, Inaruwa. Child leaders said the protest was organised after they failed to draw the attention of the District Administration Office and District Police office even after handing over memorandums 10 times. — HNS

ITAHARI: Family members of Heera Karki of Itahari-4 suspect that Tarai outfits might have kidnapped Karki. Karki has been missing for two months. His wife Kamala has been waiting ever since for her husband and has appealed to all for her husband’s safe release. — HNS

NC-UML talks

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML on Friday held talks on formation of next government on a consensus basis. “We have similar views on the formation of next government on consensus basis,” UML central leader Bhim Rawal said at the end of the meeting held in UML party headquarters in Balkhu. Rawal said they would hold next round of meeting after the CPN-Maoist presents its concept paper on national government to them. — HNS

10 hurt in mishap

POKHARA: Ten people were injured when a microbus heading to Pokhara from Syangja overturned in Pumdibhumdi-2 on the Siddhartha highway in Kaski district on Friday, police said. Driver Bhim Bahadur Dom, 33, of Makwanpur district was among the injured, police said, adding that the injured are undergoing treatment at the Phewa City Hospital. — HNS

Fatal fall

RAMECHHAP: A woman fell to death from a cliff in Bhirpani VDC-4 on Friday. Bhirpani VDC secretary Kul Bikram Shrestha said the woman fell while she was trying to drive away a monkey from her farm. — HNS

Rhino found dead

NARAYANGARH: A female rhino aged around four years was found dead in Gyaneshwor community forest of Mangalpur VDC-8, Chitwan district, on Friday morning. According to district forest officer Ram Prasad Lamsal, the reason behind the rhino’s death was not known. — HNS
