Medico kidnapped

ITAHARI: An armed gang kidnapped rural health worker 29-year-old Gopal Yadav from Rajgunj Sinubari-4 on Thursday. The gang had come in a red van with Indian number plate, eyewitnesses said adding that Yadav was abducted while he was heading to the office. Police said the motive behind the abduction has not been known. Sunsari district police office said it had no information about the abduction. — HNS

Emergency landing

Banke: An aircraft of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) made an emergency landing at Nepalgunj airport on Thursday after developing a technical snag. The aircraft made the landing at the Nepalgunj airport at 2:35 pm. It is learnt that there were 18 people on board the DAS-7 aircraft, including the crew. Subba, who served as commander of eastern mountain districts under the movement against Rana rule, was Assistant Health Minister in 2017 BS. Woman killed

MAHOTTARI: Krishna Basnet of Bardibas in Mahottari district stabbed his wife Manju to death on Wednesday night. According to the police, Krishna killed his wife following a family dispute. Teen kidnapped

BARA: An unidentified gang on Thursday night detonated a bomb in Parasauni bazaar of Bara district and abducted a teenager, the police said. Bara District Police Office said 29-year-old Shankar Mahara was injured in the blast. Mahara was rushed to Birgunj for treatment. The gang abducted 18-year-old Sarbesh Gupta from the place, the police said, adding that a manhunt for the gang was on. — HNS

45 held in Dang

DANG: Police arrested 45 persons involved in a dispute in Dang district on Wednesday. Earlier, a Youth Force cadre allegedly opened fire during the dispute. Activists of the Young Communist League (YCL) and Nepali Congress accused Youth Force cadre Arjun of shooting at Bikash Pun, who had awarded contract of the Lerena Stream Irrigation Project to an Nepali Congress-affiliated contractor. Youth Force said the dispute ensued after Young Communist League cadres tore the tender application of contractors affiliated to the CPN-UML. According to eyewitnesses, the dispute ensued as the political parties tried to award the contract to their supporters. — HNS
