Lockout lifted

POKHARA: The lockout in the office of the campus chief of Prithvi Narayan Campus in Pokhara was lifted on Monday. ANNFSU had padlocked the office of campus chief Dr Pashupatinath Timilsina, demanding new admission in proficiency certificate level. ANNFSU central member Rasmi Acharya said the lockout was lifted after the TU decided to take new admissions in PCL. — HNS

One dies of burns

BARA: A person was burnt to death when fire engulfed a cowshed in Majhariya VDC of Bara district on Sunday night. Bhikhari Prasad Yadav, 55, was killed when fire engulfed his cowshed, police said. A buffalo, an ox and four goats were also killed in the fire. In another incident, oxen, buffaloes, goats and chicken were killed when fire engulfed a house of Jogindra Mahara Chamar at Baluwatole of Piprabirta-2 in Bara on Sunday. — HNS

Child crushed

BAITADI: Nita Dhami, 13, of Jogbudha VDC in Dadeldhura was crushed to death after her house collapsed on Monday, former vice-president of the VDC Prem Singh Bohara said. The house was damaged due to the incessant downpour for one week. Meanwhile, Bhimdutta Highway that links Kailali and Dadeldhura has been damaged by landslide. — HNS

Prisoner flees

NAWALPARASI: A prisoner fled from police custody while he was being taken to Parasi district court from Kawasoti on Monday. Twenty-five-year old Laxman Shrestha of Kawasoti VDC-5 fled from Daunne area after he got off the police vehicle to answer nature’s call. — HNS
