Lightning kills three
BARA: Three persons were killed and two injured when they were struck by lightning at two separate places in Bara on Thursday morning. The deceased have been identified as Nazira Khatun, 35, and Ajay Prasad Yadav, 3, the son of Sonalal Yadav of Sihorwa, police said. Mukesh Yadav, 10, and Gita Yadav, 13,were in the incident. In another incident, Ramdhari Chaudhari of Kalaiya-3 was killed when he was struck by lightning. — HNS
Journo beaten up
KAVRE: Khagendra Bhandari, executive editor of the Sanjivani Patra daily published from Kavre district, was beaten up by a person on Wednesday evening. “Dipak Karki of Banepa beat me up when I was taking a photograph of a flower on a road leading to the Kathmandu University,” Bhandari, who is also a Kantipur TV correspondent, said. Bhandari has sustained injuries on his face; his digital camera has been broken and his motorcycle damaged in the attack. — HNS
Trader robbed
SIRAHA: An armed gang robbed rice trader Umesh Shah of Sikajyoti Lagadiyadiyani of Rs 110,000 on Wednesday night, police said. He was robbed while he was on the way to Bariyarpatti from Lahan. — HNS
MJF’s stance
BIRGUNJ: President of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Upendra Yadav condemned the political parties’ move to amend the interim constitution without implementing the past agreement reached with the Madhesi parties. Yadav reiterated that the MJF would not join the news government until the eight-point agreement with the government on February 28 was not implemented. — HNS
