Youth shot dead

ITAHARI: Tetar Yadav, 30, died when a gang opened fire on locals of west Kushaha, Sunsari, on Friday. The gang earlier shot a local, Ram Narayan Yadav. Gang members resorted to firing when the locals ran after them. Ram Narayan is being treated at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. The police arrested Dinesh Kumar Yadav of Kusaha-1 with a pistol and bullets. Yadav has admitted to shooting Ram Narayan and villagers. — HNS

Bank heist probe

DAMAK: The police recovered Rs 13,98,000 — part of the money looted from the Damak branch of Laxmi Bank — from two houses in Morang on Friday. A police team led by Damak Area Police Office Chief Govinda Raj Kafle recovered the money from the houses of Man Bahadur Bohara and Kumar Rasaili at Bayarban-8. Rs 11,48,000 was recovered from Bohara’s house, while Rs 2.5 lakh was recovered from Rasaili’s house, Kafle said. The police held Harka Singh Rai, Dhanbir Gurung and Lakhuman Gurung of Morang-based Bhutanese camps for involvement in the incident. — HNS
