School padlocked

BAGLUNG: Nepal Students’ Union and ANNISU-Revolutionary have padlocked Race Nunthapa Secondary School indefinitely in Baglung’s Race VDC alleging that it charged students excessively. The school has remained shut for a week. The students’ unions said the school was padlocked to exert pressure to reduce the fees. —HNS

Blast in Bara

BARA: An unidentified gang detonated a socket bomb in the house of medical superintendent of Bara District Hospital, Dr. Rahaman Ansari, in Kalaiya-14 on Sunday night. District police office said the explosion smashed windowpanes of the house. District army commander of Tarai Mukti Morcha, Agni, owned up the blast over phone on Monday. — HNS

Man robbed of lakhs

BARA: A gang of three armed persons robbed an official of Manharwa-based Mamkaur Sugar and Chemicals of Rs 6 lakhs in Kalaiya, the headquarters of Bara district, on Monday. The official, Upendra Prasad Yadav, had withdrawn the amount from the Kalaiya branch of NCC Bank. — HNS
