BIRGUNJ: Police detained two cadres of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh when they were collecting donation from a hotel in Birgunj on Friday night. Kaushal Mukhiya, 36, of Gaur-8 and Shivalal Mukhiya, 33, of Chiljhapti-9, Bara, were arrested after police were tipped off that the duo were demanding donation of Rs 5 lakhs000, police inspector KP Sharma said. — HNS

Dysentery claims lives

BHAIRAHAWA: Two members of a family died of dysentery in Sisausemara of Raypur VDC in Rupandehi on Friday night. Shivaji Chamar, 55, and his three-year-old daughter Rinamati died of the disease, locals said. Siraha district public health officer Ram Chandra Khanal said a team of health workers was sent to the site on Saturday to control the disease. Health officials suspect dirty water as the cause of the disease’s spread. Many people were suffering from dysentery in the village, locals said. — HNS

JTMM-J kidnaps three

Rajbiraj: Cadres of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh on Saturday abducted three persons in Saptari. They abducted them after seizing a Maruti van they were travelling in. Some JTMM-J cadres stopped the van heading to Biratnagar from Kathmandu at 5 pm, hauled out Narendra Baidya and Krishchandra Shrestha of Kavre and Amar Rai of Jhumka in Sunsari and took them to an unknown location. JTMM-J district coordinator Kranti owned up the kidnapping. — HNS
