Two injured in blast

BIRGUNJ/MAHOTTARI: Two students of the Birta Tole (Birgunj)-based Gyan Jyoti Higher Secondary School were injured in a bomb blast carried triggered by a gang on Sunday. The injured were identified as third-grader Ashish Gupta and fourth-grader Anish Shrestha. Meanwhile, cadres of the JTMM-Jwala detonated a bomb in the house of VDC Secretaries’ Rights Protection Centre chairman, Shiv Ram Pandey, in Pigauna VDC of Mahottari district on Saturday. No human casualty was reported in the blast, said police. — HNS

Border security upped

BANKE: Security personnel of Nepal and India have begun strict checking along the Nepal-India border in view of the April 10 Constituent Assembly election. Nepal Police and Indian SSB teams are doing night patrols, while daytime checking is being done by Nepal Police at the Jamunah check post and Indian police at the Rupaidiha post. Sub-inspector Resham Acharya at the Jamunah check post said all persons entering or leaving Nepal are allowed to go only after stringent checking. The border will remain sealed for 24 hours on the day of the election. — HNS

One found dead

BIRGUNJ: Body of Jagadish Ranabhat, 31, of Jamune VDC -1 in Tahanhun was found on Sunday. He had been missing after a jeep plunged into the Seti river on Friday. — HNS

Two swept away

TANAHUN: Rejina Gurung, 16, daughter of Ram Bahadur Gurung, and another Sanu Bhai BK, 8, son of Krishna BK of Devghat VDC in Tanahun district, were swept away by the Trishuli river on Sunday. Police said the two had gone with their friends to the river to take a bath. — HNS

1 abducted, 1 freed

RAJBIRAJ: An armed group abducted RPP Saptari constituency no 3 candidate Govinda Prasad Singh on Sunday. Around 30 persons forced him to move to the east, said his wife Punam Singh. Maoists’ Saptari constituency no 6 candidate Sukadev Shah was also abducted by a group on Sunday. He was freed after interrogation. — HNS

SARLAHI: The Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekta party on Sunday issued its election manifesto for election. Party president Keshav Prasad Mainali made public the 32-point manifesto in Hariwan of Sarlahi district. Trader abducted

SIRAHA: A gang of unknown persons abducted a businessman from Siraha on Saturday. According police, a gang of 25 persons abducted Sunil Kumar Sah, 16, from his shop. Sunil’s father Ram Ekwal Sah alleged that Madhesi Janadhikar Forum cadre Dhaneshwar Yadav was the head of the gang that abducted Sunil. — HNS
