Singer awarded

POKHARA: This year’s Ali Miya Folk Music Award was conferred on singer Khim Bahadur Gandharwa amid a function in Pokhara on Wednesday. Musician Saroj Gopal Bajracharya handed over the award to Gandharwa. The function was organised by the Ali Miya Literary Foundation to mark the 90th birth anniversary of the late Ali Miya. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000. — HNS

Cop hurt in ambush

RAJBIRAJ: Raj Kumar Tamang, a jawan of the APF, was seriously injured when he accidentally walked on an ambush along the Nepal-India border in Saptari on Wednesday. Tamang, who is posted at APF’s camp at Belhi customs point, was on a patrol when the ambush went off. — HNS
