One dies of cold

RAJBIRAJ: One Chhatturam, 50, of Jagatpur VDC-3 in Saptari district is reported to have died of cold. He died on Friday while being rushed for treatment, a primary health centre at Kanchanpur said. — HNS

Gyawali’s take on polls

KAPILVASTU: UML leader Pradip Gyawali said on Saturday that the issue of holding CA polls is a matter of life and death for Nepalis. “There is unrest in the Tarai and the CPN-Maoist is being extremist while the Nepali Congress is adopting a status quoist attitude,” he said while addressing the seventh district convention of the pro-UML Democratic National Youth Federation on Saturday. Gyawali said the Maoists are still imparting war training to their party cadres. Local bodies would not reestablished and the Maoists’ PLA would not be integrated into the Nepal Army before the CA polls. — HNS

Boy shot dead

PHIDIM: One Bikram Mukhiya, 13, of Nagi VDC-3 was shot in the Amrise forest near the village on Friday evening. A bullet fired at a deer by Sriprasad Yonghang missed and hit Mukhiya. Both of them had gone to the forest for hunting. Chief of the district police office, Tarani Lamsal said Mukhiya died of the bullet injury in his abdomen. Sriprasad, 45, of the same VDC, surrendered himself to the police post at Gopetar on the same evening, Lamsal said, adding that the boy’s body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem for cremation. — HNS
