Mishap claims one

RUPANDEHI: One person was killed and three were injured when a truck heading to Arghakanchi from Rupandehi met with an accident on Gorusinge-Sandhikharka road on Thursday night. Twenty-seven-year-old truck driver Narayan Shrestha of Nuwakot VDC-3 in Arghakanchi was killed and three were injured in the accident, the Western Regional Traffic Police at Butwal said. —HNS

Govt staff’s demands

DHANKUTA: The Dhankuta chapter of the Nepal Civil Servants’ Association demanded on Friday that Surendra Kumar Bishwokarma of Mugu, who was killed by an unidentified gang, be declared a martyr. Issuing a press statement, the Civil Servants’ Association also demanded that the family of Bishwokarma be compensated, jobs be given to family members and those involved in the incident be punished. —HNS

Ad hoc panel formed

RAUTAHAT: The Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha, Rautahat district unit, on Friday formed an eleven-member ad hoc committee with Prasanta Barma as the coordinator. Bishal Yadav is the militia commander, Kranti the city in charge and Suresh, Ranajit and Sudip are the commanders of area no 1,2 and 3 respectively, a press statement said. The panel would help launch the Morcha’s activities in a bold manner in the district, said the statement signed by a central speaker of Morcha, Kautilya Sharma. — HNS

Imposter cop held

PALPA: District police office Palpa on Friday arrested a person, Bishworaj Paudel, who was posing as a police inspector. Paudel, 38, a resident of Masyam VDC-3 is reported to be a schoolteacher at a primary school in Masyam-3. — HNS

NBA’s demand

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) on Friday demanded that the Supreme Court form a high-level commission to address problems in the judiciary. Submitting an 11-point memorandum to Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri, NBA demanded that the commission be formed under a senior SC Justice and include representatives from NBA and other sectors concerned. NBA General Secretary Raman Kumar Shrestha said that CJ Giri assured the NBA representatives of bringing in reforms — HNS
