Thapa’s land seized

Narayangarh : Maoists on Wednesday seized the land of former Home Minister Kamal Thapa. Activists of All Nepal Peasants’ Organisation-Revolutionary and some other organisations affiliated to the Maoist seized the land and the house of Thapa situated at Jutpani VDC-3 of Chitwan, said Maoists’ Chitwan in-charge Pathik. A relative of Kamal Thapa, Girendra Deuja, had been using the property. — HNS

1 abducted in Siraha

SIRAHA: An unidentified gang abducted Dhanraj Pal Gaderi alias Maharaji (35), a resident of Mahanaur-8 of Siraha, on Tuesday night. According to the District Police Office, a group of seven persons abducted him at around 9 pm from his residence at Manahaur VDC. — HNS

Film festival

POKHARA: A two-day Travelling Mountain Film Festival -2007 begun in Barahi Cinema Hall on Wednesday with a view to raising awareness on documentary films among the Pokharelis. The festival was organised by former students of Gandaki Boarding School and seven documentary films will be screened, said coordinator of the festival Asim Bastola. Documentaries like Afgan Mussels, A Line with Slate and The Bitch were screened on the first day. — HNS
