SJTMM kidnaps three
MAHOTTARI: Sanyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (SJTMM) cadres abducted Mahabir Shah of Banchaudi-4, his father and wife on Tuesday in Mahottari district. SJTMM Mahottari in-charge Ananda has owned up the abduction. Meanwhile, police arrested two SJTMM cadres Shatrudhan Yadav and Majbul Raien on Tue-sday on suspicion of their involvement in the abduction, SP Keshav Adhikari said. After the arrests, SJTMM district in-charge Ananda warned of actions if the detained cadres were not released within 24 hours. — HNS
Himtal shares sold
NEW DELHI: India’s reputed infrastructure development company GMR has purchased 80 per cent shares of Nepal’s Himtal Hydro Company, GMR’s subsidiary GMR Energy said on Tuesday. Himtal has received a licence for feasibility study and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) of the 250-mw Upper Marsyangdi-2 Hydroelectricity Project. — HNS
Son kills father
MAHOTTARI: A youth of Gauribas VDC-2 murdered his father on Tuesday. Lal Bahadur Tamang, 55, who was smacked with an axe by his son Kailash Tamang, 30, died while he was being rushed to Dharan for treatment, SP Keshav Adhikari said. Adhikari said that the accused is under the control of Bardibas area police office. According to the family source, Kailash had gone insane after a motorcycle accident. — HNS
Maoists file complaint
RAUTAHAT: Seven cadres of the CPN-Maoist submitted a written complaint at the Rautahat district police office on Tuesday demanding action against the Gaur massacre accused. “We submitted the complaint against 103 persons involved in the massacre on March 20, 2007,” said Bindeshwor Yadav, district secretary of CPN-Maoist. During the carnage, some 27 Maoist cadres had been killed. — HNS
Highway blocked
JHAPA: Transport entrepreneurs, saying that students mistreated a bus owner, staged a chakka jam at Birtamod section of the Mahendra Highway for three hours on Tuesday. According to police, students of the Birtamod-based Kankai Campus beat up a bus owner Yam Prasad Shrestha. Traffic resumed after transport entrepreneurs and students reached an agreement. —HNS
Body found
POKHARA: An unclaimed body of a person was found on Tuesday at Lamachaur of Pokhara. The body of a woman aged around 35 was found at Thanti of Lamachaur and it has been taken to the Pokhara-based Western Regional Hospital for post-mortem, the Bagar Ward Police Office said. — HNS
