ITAHARI: The number of pneumonia patients has increased in the Sunsari District Hospital at Inaruwa. Most of the children in the southern part of district are suffering from pneumonia, a source said. — HNS

Bid to appoint envoys

KATHMANDU: ‘Agreemo’ for the appointment of ambassadors have been received from five more countries. Ministry of Foreign Affairs said ‘agreemoes’ have been received to appoint Murariraj Sharma, Pradeep Khatiwada, Baijanath Thapaliya and Surya Kiran Gurung as envoys of Nepal to Britain, Bangladesh, Israel and Russia respectively. An ‘agreemo’ also has been received to appoint Dr Sureshraj Chalise as envoy to US. — RSS

JTMM-G abducts man

SIRAHA: Cadres of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Goit (JTMM-G) abducted an employee of the Agriculture Development Bank, Suresh Prasad Sharma, from his house in Birpur Tole, Siraha district, on Saturday, the police said. Sharma, who had come home for Dashain, is associated with the Nuwakot office of the bank. A gang of eight persons came on a motorcycle and took him away, saying they had to talk to him on some issue, Sharma’s family said. Siraha district secretary of the JTMM-G Amitabh owned up the abduction and said Sharma was taken into custody for espionage. — HNS

Mishap kills two

JANKPURDHAM: Two persons died and nine were injured when a bus heading for Siraha from Janakpur met with an accident in Hajarachock of Naktajhijh VDC of Dhanusha district on Sunday. Netra Bahadur Gurung, 40, helper of the bus and native of Bandipur, Siraha, died on the spot, while Dharma Shaha Teli, 20, conductor of the bus and native of Janakpur municipality-9 died en route to hospital, police said. — HNS

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the standing committee of the CPN (UML) was held at the party’s central office in Madannagar, Balkhu, on Sunday. The meeting dwelt on proposals registered by the CPN (Maoist) in the parliament and the amendment proposal registered by the

CPN-UML. A member of the standing committee, Bamdev Gautam, said that the meeting discussed ways to seek consensus on the amendment proposal registered in the parliament. — RSS

NC flays YCL’s acts

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has demanded to the government to ensure the security of the all civilians in the light of the YCL’s recent threat to kill active NC cadres in Rasuwa Basu Pyakurel, Narnath Simkhada and Shanker Lamichhane. A press release issued by the party on Sunday states that YCL, a sister organization of the Maoist, has threatened to kill Pyakurel if he entered in the district. YCL has asked Simkhada to give Rs 200,000 within a week and it has already taken Rs 30,000 from Lamichhane and has warned him to give Rs 30,000 more. The Nepali Congress has denounced the anarchic activities of the Maoists. — RSS

Highway closure

BHAKTAPUR: Demanding an end to criminal activities taking place on the Araniko highway, transport workers on Sunday announced an indefinite closure of the highway from Monday. The AranikoUnit of the All Nepal Transport Workers’ Association said at a press meet here on Sunday that the transport workers have decided to close the highway until unhindered vehicular movement is ensured. The transport workers complained of adverse situation in Chothang, Kalidaha, Namdul and others areas of Dolakha district. — RSS
