PLA verification

DHANGADHI: The second phase of the UN verification of fighters in the Bahuviryoddha brigade of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army seventh division at Sahajpur was completed on Thursday. Commander of the PLA’s Badepur-based Lisnegam brigade Kuber, where the verification began on Friday, said 673 fighters of the Bahuviryoddha brigade were verified. Kuber said 250 fighters were verified at the Lisnegam brigade till the close of day on Friday. The verification of PLA fighters of the Lokesh Smriti brigade at Gorange and those in the brigade’s main camp at Talband will start after the verification of Lisnegam brigade fighters ends. — HNS

UNMIN’s concern

KATHMANDU: Special Representative of UN Secretary General, Ian Martin, and his political advisor, Samuel Tamrat, on Friday expressed their concerns over the uncertainity looming over the CA polls after the Maoist quit the government. The duo expressed their concerns in a meeting with Lila Mani Pokhrel of Janamorcha Nepal and Ekta Kendra Masal’s leader Prakash. “Martin and Tamrat were concerned over the future of peace process if the CPN-M do not contest the polls,” said Pokhrel. The UNMIN officials also expressed their doubs over the continuation of eight-party alliance, he said. — HNS

Traders bandh call

Rautahat: The Rautahat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) on Friday called Gaur bazaar bandh to protest against the high handedness of the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel. The RCCI has alleged that the APF seized goods from the traders even after they produced Value Added Tax (VAT) bill of the goods being transported. The APF seized truck was transporting 138 sacks of maize belonging to trader Rameshwor Shah Kalwar, being transported from the New Chaudhari Store, Soni Store and Raghunath Store to Jaiswal Store at Garuda and handed it to the customs office on Thursday. — HNS
