NAWALPARASI: Thirteen-year-old Shital Jung Rama, resident of Gaidakot-2, was electrocuted on Thursday night. Rana got electrocuted when he was trying to switch on the light with a wet hand, the Gaidakot Area Police Office said. — HNS
Bomb blast in Birgunj
BIRGUNJ: A socket bomb was planted near the house of the Parsa chapter of Nepali Congress, Rajendra Bahadur Amatya, at 4 am on Friday morning. Though the bomb exploded, nobody were hurt in the incident, the Parsa District Police Office said. Tuphan Singh claiming to be the district in-charge of the JTMM-J owned up the incident. The bomb was planted to warn Amayta as he is planning to file his candidacy for the CA polls, Singh said. — HNS
JTMM-J returns land
BARA: The Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha has returned 16 bighas of land that it had grabbed from owners Arvind Pradhan, Laxman Pradhan, Ram Pradhan and Suresh Pradhan of Sisuwa Maheshpur and Dohri in Kalaiya VDC-4 of Bara. Speaking over telephone on Friday, Bara Madhes government chief Tabrez told journalists that the land had been returned to the rightful owners. The JTMM-J had grabbed the land more than two months ago. — HNS
CA court appointment
KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council on Friday recommended the government to depute three Supreme Court judges — Anup Raj Sharma, Balaram KC and Top Bahadur Magar — as judges of the Constituent Assembly Court. It has recommended that Sharma be appointed chairman of the court. The court will settle disputes related to CA elections. — HNS
Maoists catch cops
PALPA: Maoists on Friday took five police personnel, including a sub-inspector, under control for four hours. The police personnel had gone to Kachal in west Palpa to provide security during the inauguration of the Boksey River hydel project. Maoist People’s Liberation Army guerrillas of the Sainamani sub-camp waylaid the five police personnel while they were returning from the hydel project site and hustled them into their camp. Deputy superintendent of police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that the police team was released after a meeting with district leaders of the CPN (Maoist) and other parties. — HNS
Illegal timber seized
RAUTAHAT: Cadres of the Young Communist League on Friday seized 250 cubic feet of illegally felled timber from the Gaindatar range post area of Chandranigahpur in Rautahat. The YCL cadres seized five green logs of Sal trees in the Lamha forest near the East-West highway, said YCL district coordinator Raj Kishor Singh, adding forest officials are behind the racket. However, senior forest ranger Hem Lal Aryal denied involvement of the forest department’s personnel in the incident. — HNS
Murder suspect held
ITAHARI: Police arrested a person in suspicion of the murder of a woman on Thursday night. According to inspector at the Itahari Area Police office, Bishwa Mani Pokhrel, Raj Kumar Dangal of Aapgachhi in Itahari was held on suspicion of involvement in murder of a woman whose body was found in a pond few days ago. — HNS
