Hearing put off

KATHMANDU: The Special Court on Monday put off hearing on a corruption case against two top officials of the Nepal Rastra Bank for two weeks after judge Bhoopdhoj Adhikary went on leave. The CIAA had filed the case against Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai and executive director Surendra Man Pradhan. The hearing could not take place on Monday, as judge Adhikary, who heads a three-member bench, has gone on a pilgrimage to Muktinath, a source said. The next hearing has been scheduled for September 30. — HNS

Maoist ‘excesses’

Ramechhap: Maoist cadres threatened those collecting the data on the disabled and forced them to return to the district headquarters Manthali. Disabled Awareness Centre Ramechhap had sent its representatives to collect the data in Bhuju, Saipu, Kuvukasthali, Gumdel, Bijulikot, Gupteshwor, Bamti, Chchure, Preeti and Tose VDCs. However, the Maoists forced them to return to Manthali, chairperson of Disabled Awareness Centre Ramechhap, Badri Nayaghare, said. Maoist district leader Kamala denied his party’s involvement in the incident. — HNS

Crown Prince’s health

KATHMANDU: Crown Prince Paras was shifted on Monday to a private cabin of the general ward from the Intensive Care Unit after a steady recovery, the Norvic- Escorts International Hospital said in a communique. The crown prince is on his near normal diet and is in minimal mobilisation, it said, adding he will be discharged in a couple of days if the recovery makes steady progress. — RSS
