One shot dead

Bara: Unidentified persons shot dead a person here on Tuesday night. Police said the body of 43-year-old Rajendra Shah Kanu of Khopawa-2 Murkibaliya was found 200 metres away from his house. Coordinator of the JTMM(Goit) in Bara, Birat, claimed that Kanu was killed in an encounter with Young Communist League cadres. YCL’s Bara president Ranjit denied the allegation. — HNS

Girl feared drowned

DHANKUTA: Eighteen-year-old Sanju Bhattarai of Toliya Shanti Chowki in Biratnagar Sub Metropolis-3 has gone missing after being swept away by the swollen Tamor river at Mulghat. Police said Sanju, who came from Biratnagar to meet her friend, was swept away while taking a bath in the river on Wednesday. — HNS

Health team in village

DIPAYAL: A team of health workers arrived in the diarrhoea-hit villages of Dhuli and Jageda in Bajhang’s Kada VDC on Wednesday. Diarrhoea has spread in the villages in the last three weeks. The team led by an assistant health worker reached the villages a week after they left the district headquarters of Chainpur. — HNS

Truck-hit kills boy

DIPAYAL: A boy died when a truck (Na 2 Kha 7327) heading from Accham to Dipayal hit him on the Silgadhi road on Tueday night. Police said that four-year-old Rabindra Hamal was walking on the roadside when the truck hit him. The truck driver, Tribeni Chaudhary, has been arrested and the truck seized. — HNS
