2 held for ‘murder’

PANCHTHAR: Police on Sunday arrested two persons on the charge of murdering 55-year-old Mitra Lal Koirala of Panchthar Tharpu-4. Koirala, who had returned home after living for seven years in the district headquarters, was murdered by an unidentified group of men at his house on July 16. Dilli Ram Koirala and Om Nath Koirala, two neighbours of Mitral Lal Koirala, were arrested after a first information report (FIR) was lodged at the police post, DSP Mukti Shrestha said. — HNS

Viral fever outbreak

HETAUDA: Viral fever has spread in Hetauda municipality in the past couple of days. According to the Hetauda Hospital, some 70-75 viral fever patients have visited the hospital so far. Thirty-five of them have been undergoing treatment in the hospital. The fever has also spread in other VDCs, the District Public Health Office, Makwanpur, said. — RSS

Threat to life alleged

SIRAHA: A technical assistant at Mahespurpatari VDC, Shankar Bahadur BC, has accused JTMM-J cadres of threatening to kill him. “JTMM-J cadres have been calling me on my mobile phone for 15 days and threatening to kill me,” BC charged. Saying that he has not gone to the VDC office for 10 days due to the threat, BC said, “The JTMM-J cadres are urging me to tell them the way in which I want to be killed.” “I facilitated the release of a former chairperson of Mahespurpatari VDC, Arun KC, a JTMM-J abductee. The JTMM-J cadres are targeting me for facilitating the release of KC,” BC claimed. — HNS

Tharuhat bandh call

Kathmandu: The Tharu Youth Front (TYF) on monday called a Tharuhat region bandh on August 13. The Front also announced peaceful protest programmes to press the government with its various demands. “We have decided to call a Tharuhat Autonomous Region bandh on August 13 as the government failed to address our demands,” Chandra Narayan Chaudhary, the president of the Front. — HNS
