Police dept shuffled

KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry on Sunday shuffled the police department and transferred 114 senior police officials, including nine SSPs, 31 SPs and 77 DSPs. According to the ministry, SSP Upendra Kanta Aryal is now the chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) at Hanumandhoka. There will now be two SPs in the MPCD. SPs Prakash Aryal and Devendra Subedi have been transfered to the MPCD. The ministry also confirmed the posting of police officials in offices where they had been on deputation. — HNS

New deal for teachers

MAKWANPUR: Private school teachers will get salary on par with the teachers working in government schools. An agreement to this effect was reached between the Teachers Union, PABSON, and NPABSON after phase wise talks. The schools have agreed to make them permanent and provide minimum salaries, allowances and other facilities as fixed by the government. — RSS

Journal on mediation

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Dilip Kumar Paudel on Sunday released a special journal on mediation published by the Commercial Law Society with the support of USAID Nepal’s ARD Rule of Law Project at a programme at Nepal Bar Association’s office. The journal was published to mark the Mediation Settlement Week organised by the Supreme Court. Deputy Chief of Party at the ARD, Govinda Das Shrestha, highlighted on the activities carried out with the USAID’s support in Nepal. — HNS
