Two killed in mishaps
DANG: One person died after falling off a bus in Dang on Sunday while another died after being hit by a bus. Dhurba Khatri, 22, of Narayanpur-1, Dang, was killed when he suddenly fell off a bus heading to Ghorahi from Machhai at Narayanpur-1 on the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section, police said. Khatri died on way to the hospital in Ghorahi. A report from Bardiya said Dhan Bahadur Shahi, 65, of Parale VDC-6 of Jajarkot was killed when a bus hit him at Bholagadhi on the Nepalgunj-Gulariya road. — HNS
Over Rs 6 lakh looted
Kathmandu: Four armed persons looted Rs 670,000 from the Kaligandagi Civil Cooperatives at Gangabu on Sunday morning, police said. “The four, wearing masks on their faces, broke into the cooperatives as customers. First they disconnected the phone lines and snatched cell phones from all the staffers. They kept the mobile sets but gave them their SIM cards back,” DSP Shushil Bhandari at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, said. The looters then locked all the six staffers in a room from outside and made away with Rs 670,000 from the safe and disappeared within five minutes. — HNS

Headmaster abducted
RAJBIRAJ: A gang on Saturday abducted Ram Prasad Sharan, headmaster of Brahmapur-based Janata Rameshwor Secondary School in Saptari, from his home at Brahmapur bazaar. Claiming that they were taking him for interrogation, the gang members took him to an undisclosed location, said his relatives. — HNS
