Cop ‘thrashes’ one
POKHARA: A policewoman, Khina Karki, allegedly beat up Gita Pandit of Pokhara-13 on the Pokhara sub-metropolis office premises on Friday. Gita said she was beaten up while she was urging Khina to repay Rs 30,000. According to Gita, Khina had taken the money from her for her daughter’s treatment. — HNS

Thakurdwar : The local administration has barred re-establishment of displaced security posts in Bardiya National Park that were displaced during the Maoist insurgency, citing security. Bardiya chief district officer Shiva Prasad Nepal yesterday directed the conservation officer of the park not to re-instate the posts. — HNS
One found dead
JHAPA: A senior citizen was found dead on the banks of the Hadida river in Mechinagar municipality of Jhapa district on Friday. The dead has been identified as Khashru Kisan. Kisan had been working as a domestic help in the house of Dinesh Khatiwada in Duhagadi VDC, police said. — HNS
Ex-PM in Varanasi
NEW DELHI: One of the founders of the NC and former PM Krishna Prasad Bhattarai arrived in Varanasi on Thursday. Bhattarai, who has been keeping off from active politics for the past few years, will spend about a month in Varanasi, a source close to Bhattarai said. Leader of the NC-D, Pradeep Giri, who was in New Delhi, also left for Varanasi after Bhattarai’s arrival there, chairman of the public relations committee of the NC (D)-aligned Nepali Migrants’ Association in India, Bishnu Khanal, said. — HNS
