Office set up
KATHMANDU: The Interim Task Force constituted with the aim to assist the UN team in the monitoring of the Maoists’ arms and army management set up its office at Dasarathpur, Surkhet on Saturday. The 14-member task force has begun its preliminary work prior to officially begin assisting the UN team, said Chief of the Task Force, Basanta Adhikari. — RSS
Man cremated
INARUWA: Satyam Alemagar, a resident of Itahari municipality, Ward number 1 who had been working for four years in Malasiya was cremated here on Saturday. Magar was killed in a car accident four days ago in Malaysia, said his co-worker Bal Krishna Rijal of Itahara. — RSS
Chepang fest opens
DHADING: Minister for Local Development Rajendra Prasad Pandey said on Saturday that the constituent assembly poll will provide equal opportunities to the people of the indigenous communities. Pandey said this while inaugurating the Chepang Festival organised by the Nepal Chepang Association (Dhading) at Charaudi bazaar in Dhading. Some 18 stalls of the Chepang community from Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan and Makwanpur districts, featuring Chepang food, culture and diverse items, are kept on display. Member of Parliament Ramnath Adhikari and Sabitri Bogati also addressed the gathering at the inaugural function. — HNS
Programme delayed
TAPLEJUNG: Snowfall has delayed re-establishment of two police posts in Taplejung district. The government has directed for re-establishment of police posts within January 9. Of the displaced police posts, 16 have been already reinstated in the district. Two police posts — one each in Olangchunggola and Ghunsa— are yet to be reinstated, said the Taplejung district police office. — HNS
NTA gathering begins
Nuwakot: Nepali Congress (NC) vice president Sushil Koirala said there would be an end of those who believe only in the power of weapon. Inaugurating the regional gathering of Nepal Teachers Association (NTA) on Saturday, Koirala said, “Maoists will not get peoples support if they continue to terrorise and threaten people. They must change their behaviour.” NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC said the party will adopt its policy on monarchy before CA polls. — HNS
