Healthy heart mantra
KATHMANDU: Awareness, Screening, Action and Prevention (ASAP) are the key to a healthy life, a heart specialist said here on Thursday. Addressing the awareness programme, “Mantra for Healthy Heart,” organised by the Norvic Escorts International Hospital and the Nepal Heart Club, heart specialist at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, India, Dr Ravi R Kasaliwal, said: “Diabetes, hypertension, abdominal obesity and psycho-social factors are major causes of heart diseases”.— HNS
Ex-Gorkhas deployed
DAMAK: A team of ex-Gorkha soldiers arrived here on Thursday. The 14-member team will certify the Maoist PLAS and monitor the arms management process as per directions of UN. Officer in the local cantonment management office under the Home Ministry, Ganesh Adhikari said the team will take up primary task in the Maoist cantonment in Ilam’s Chulachuli from Friday. — HNS

NUWAKOT: Activists of the Nepal Students’ Union, Nepal Students’ Union (Democratic), ANNFSU and ANNISU-R chased supporters of the monarchy, who had assembled at a building here on Thursday to mark the Prithvi Jayanti. Woman killed
NAWALPARASI: Jarawati Devi Harijan, 40, of Kudiya VDC-6, was murdered by her brother-in-law Tulsi Harijan on Thursday. Tulsi struck Jarawati Devi with a weapon after family dispute, police inspector Sovit Gurung at Beltari said. — HNS
