APF team seen off

KATHMANDU: Three-member team of the Armed Police Force (APF) left Kathmandu for East Timor on Monday to work as United Nations Peace Keeping Force. The three-member team comprises Superintendent of the APF Krishna Bhakta Brahmacharya, Deputy Superintendent of the APF Chandra Prakash Gautam and Sub-Inspector of the APF Shri Krishna Giri. Deputy Inspector General of the APF Kishor Kumar Lama bid farewell to the team during a function organised at the APF headquarters on Tuesday, a press release issued by the APF headquarters, Halchowk, stated. — HNS

Passengers stranded

TAPLEJUNG: Transportation did not resume here on Tuesday, leaving hundreds of passengers, who had come to the bus park to get their tickets en route to Birtamod from Taplejung, stranded in the cold. Transport workers had reached an agreement to end the strike in the eastern region on Monday. Mechi Transport Bus Entrepreneurs’ Association, Taplejung, said transportation to and fro Taplejung did not resume. — HNS

One killed in mishap

BAGLUNG: Kaushila Thapa, 60, of Arjewa VDC in Baglung district was killed on the spot when a microbus bound for Baglung from Kusma bazaar of Parbat district hit her at Damdarekhola of Parbat on Tuesday morning, said the Baglung district police office. Dal Bahadur Pun, 70, of Shivalaya VDC, Parbat, was injured in the mishap. The microbus and driver have been taken into police custody, police said. — HNS
