Civil Aviation Day
KATHMANDU: The International Civil Aviation Day is to be observed in Kathmandu on Thursday (December 7), the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said in a statement on Tuesday. The event will see the participation of many dignitaries and tourism and civilian aviation experts. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Pradip Gyawali will inaugurate the event. — HNS
Maoist act flayed
KATHMANDU: The Human Rights and Peace Society on Tuesday condemned the inhumane treatment of GFONT’s founding president Madhav Neupane by the Maoists. The Maoists garlanded Neupane with a string of shoes on Sunday. The human rights watchdog also expressed concern over the Maoists taking possession of Ravin Lal Shrestha and Pravin Lal Shrestha’s car, motorcycle and mobile phones. — HNS
Houses for displaced
HETAUDA: The government has constructed some 50 houses to rehabilitate conflict-hit families in Kamane of Hetauda Municipality-8. According to the Building Technology Research and Training Centre, Hetauda, of a total amount of Rs 9.1 million provided by the Home Ministry to construct such houses, Rs 7.2 million was spent on the 50 houses. — RSS
Priest lynched
BIRGUNJ: An unidentified gang lynched Jiutram Patel, a priest of the Katengan Mai temple at Bhediyahi tole in Birgunj, on Monday. The gang also set ablaze his hut, said his brother Makbul. The police are investigati-ng the case, said SP at the District Police Office, Ramesh Phuyal. — HNS
Human skulls seized
BIRGUNJ: Police have arrested two persons with 50 human skulls and 10 bones from the new bus park in Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan city. Necessary action has been initiated against Bir Bahadur Limbu, 24, hailing from Telukot village developmetn committee-2 and Tika Adhikari, 37 of Kheuda-7 from Taplejung, according to the District Police Office, Parsa. Police arrested them while they were trying to board a bus for Kathmandu with the contraband. They had brought the skulls from Patna, India. — RSS
One arrested
BHADRAPUR: The Ilaka Police Office, Birtamod, has arrested Kasinath Khadka with a countrymade gun and a khukuri while he was trying to smuggle timber from Khudunabari VDC-3. Khadka was arrested on the charge of smuggling wood from the Santi Community Forest of Khudunabari. The chairman of the Community Forest Narendra Shrestha accused Khadka of brandishing firearms. — RSS
Press Council panel
KATHMANDU: The Press Council Nepal has constituted a committee under the covnenorship of Kashi Raj Dahal to probe the applications received for reviewing the classification of newspapers in 2062 BS. Vice-president of the FNJ, Shiva Gaunle and journalist Dharmendra Jha are members of the committee. — RSS
