Biratnagar: Minister for Local Development Rajendra Prasad Pandey has directed VDC secretaries to go the villages and serve the people. Pandey said that the government will not hear any excuse of the VDC secretaries now. Displaced by the conflict, over 3000 VDC secretaries have been carrying out their duties from districts’ headquarters. — HNS

PM receives report

KATHMANDU: The task-force formed under the convenorship of Acting Regional Administrator Tana Gautam submitted its mid-term report of the 10-Year Vision Paper on Civil Service to the PM on Sunday. Receiving the report, PM Koirala directed Chief Secretary Dr Bhojraj Ghimire to finalise the report, including suggestions of the major political parties and civic society within a month, said the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. — RSS

Eight hurt in mishap

DHADING: Eight persons were critically injured when a microbus of Jyoti Transport going to Kathmandu from Narayangarh collided with a truck at Chalise of Dharke in Dhading on Sunday. Highway Emergency Services Centre at Dharke said 11 passengers were on board. — HNS

Gyawali’s assurance

Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Pradeep Gyawali said on Sunday the government was committed to meeting the commitment made in the comprehensive national peace accord regarding management of mines and explosives. “We have mentioned about the management of mines and explosives in the peace accord to avoid the misuse of explosives and ammunition that has been killing innocent civilians,” he said. — HNS
