Book released
POKHARA: A book written by CPN-UML leader and former president of the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), Rabindra Adhikari, was released on Sunday. The UML Gandaki Zone secretary, Khagaraj Adhikari, released the book, ‘Constituent Assembly, Loktantra and Restructuring,’ published by New Hello Stationery and Book House at a function here. The book contains 33 articles on constituent assembly, the history of the royal palace, the use of constituent assembly in different countries and restructuring of the state. Most of the articles have already appeared in different newspapers. The book also talks about the murder of popular singer Pravin Gurung. — HNS
Maoists expel cadres
BARA: The CPN-Maoist in Bara has expelled eight permanent members from the party, the Maoist district committee secretary, Jamin, said in a statement on Sunday. Binod Kushbaha, Radheshyam Shah, Ramashis Patel, Kalam Miya, Harindra Sahani, Rangi Lal, Manoj Sahani and Shekhar Singh were expelled on charges of working against the party, the statement said. — HNS
Traffic disrupted
BARA: The Neejgadh-based drinking water consumers’ struggle committee, protesting against the small urban drinking water project, disrupted traffic along the East-West Mahendra Highway for two hours on Sunday, the Area Police Office, Neejgadh, said. Consumers said they were forced to launch the protest as the drinking water charge would go up six times after the implementation of the new project. It is stated that the drinking water charge would be fixed at Rs 175 per month from the current Rs 30 after the implementation of the new project. — HNS
Girl allegedly raped
LUMJUNG: A hospital employee reportedly raped a 14-year-old girl who had came to the Lumjung District Community Hospital for treatment on Sunday. Raj Kumar Raya Yadav, 34, an x-ray assistant in the hospital, raped 14-year-old girl from Tanahun Purkot at 12:00 noon. The news came to light after the girl filed a in Lamjung district police office. Police arrested Yadav from the hospital while the victim has been sent to Damauli hospital for treatment. Acting administrative officer of the hospital, Shanker Devkota said Yadav has been expelled from service effective from Sunday. Irate locals on Sunday gheraoed the hospital and demanded immediate action against the culprit. — HNS
ANNISU-R panel
KIRTIPUR: A students’ meeting associated with the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary has formed an ANNISU-R Tribhuvan University Central Campus Committee. The president, secretary and general secretary of the committee are Sakaraj Aryal, Keshav Bhushal and Jekendra Shrestha respectively, and other members are Keshav Dangol, Chakrapani Pokhrel, D.B. Bhujel and Shivalal Puri. The meeting has given the responsibility of the coordinators of the Central departments of Political Science, Chemistry, Education, and Sociology to Nirmal Bhusal, Rajendra Bhattarai, Dinanath Khatiwada and Agnideep Sharma respectively. — RSS
Four girls missing
RAMECHHAP: Four teenage girls are missing from Okhreni village development committee-9 in the district since August 12. They have been feared abducted by the Maoists. Fourteen-year-old Dev Raj Tamang, Ghanashyam Tamang, 16, Kishori Bhakti Tamang, 16 and the 16-year-old daughter of Laxman Ghising are missing, said Dev Raj’s mother Ram Maya Tamang. All four had left their homes together on that day and Bhakti was later seen among a group of Maoists, said the girls’ family members. However, the Maoists have said they have no information about the missing youths. — HNS
