UCPN-M set to grow

KATHMANDU: Hundreds of cadres and supporters of different political parties are set to join the UCPN-Maoist at a function on Sunday. “I have received names of around 200 people who want to join our party,” said Shailendra, secretary of Kathmandu district committee, the UCPN-Maoist. He claimed that some central level leaders were also preparing to enter the Maoist party. Rashmi, Maoist in-charge of the constituency-9, Kathmandu, claimed that around 400 district level cadres of the CPN-UML, around a dozen district level cadres of the Nepali Congress and around 150 district level cadres of Samajbadi Andolan and a cadre of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum were ready to enter the ex-rebels’ camp during the programme scheduled for Sunday in the Capital. Dr Dilliraj Khanal, who recently joined the UCPN-Maoist, said that the former members of Parliament and central committee leaders of different parties were preparing to ditch their parties for the Maoists. — HNS
