SARLAHI, APRIL 17

Sarlahi Police have arrested a driver along with a pickup van loaded with a large quantity of marijuana late last night.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Lalbandi Police Station led by Inspector Sujan Pathak stopped a Bolero pickup van (Ba. 20 Cha. 1782) during a routine check at Pattharkot in Lalbandi Municipality-13 at approximately 11:20 pm.

The vehicle, which was traveling from Marin towards Lalbandi, was found to be carrying 244 kilograms of marijuana concealed beneath sacks of rice husk and packed in 45 red plastic-wrapped packets.

The driver, identified as Sushil Chaudhary (25) from Nabalpur, Lalbandi Municipality-1, Sarlahi, was arrested and taken into custody.

According to District Police Spokesperson DSP Saroj Rai, both the suspect and the confiscated vehicle are currently under police control at Malangwa District Police Office, with Chaudhary being held for further investigation under the Narcotic Drugs Transportation Act.

Legal procedures are underway, and further investigation into the case is under way after receiving court approval for the judicial custody of the arrested individual, DSP Rai added.
