CHITWAN: A person died and eight others were injured in a road accident in the wee hours of Monday at Khairahani in eastern Chitwan.

Sub-Inspector Jitendra Chaudhary of Area Police Office, Khairahani, informed that the deceased has been identified as Sunil Bastakoti of Siseni-4 in Makawanpur.

Police said the truck (Ba 3 Kha 1757), on its way to Narayangadh, had turned turtle after losing control. Bastakoti was collecting the goods that had fallen out of the ill-fated truck when the bus (Na 5 Kha 6319), en route to Birgunj from Kathmandu, had hit it.

Eight persons including helper of truck, Shivaram Khatri, were injured. Identities of others injured in the incident are yet to be ascertained.

Police said that Khatri is being treated at Chitwan Medical College and while other injured are receiving treatment at the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Bharatpur.
