KATHMANDU: A person died and two sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a tractor in Kerabari Rural Municipality-8 of Morang district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Kishor Khawas of Belbari Municipality-4, injured as Binod Chaudhary (21) of the same place and Lalit Chaudhary (25) of Belbari Municipality-5 in the district.

According to police, the incident occurred when an unidentified tractor hit the motorcycle (Ko 15 Pa 1090) in Aamjunge at 7:00 pm yesterday, injuring all three persons riding the motorcycle.

The injured trio were rushed to the Dharan-based BP Institute of Health Sciences where Khawas breathed his last at 9:15 pm the same night during the course of treatment, while other two have been undergoing treatment there, informed police.

It has been learnt that Khawas and Lalit were the pillion riders of the two-wheeler while Binod was the motorcyclist.

Meanwhile, search is on for the tractor and its driver who fled the incident site, for further investigation, said the Kerabari-based Area Police Office, Morang.
