KANCHANPUR: One of the perpetrators behind the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant was arrested from Kanchanpur district on Saturday, informed police.

The arrestee has been identified as Dilip Singh Bista of Khanna Chaurahi in Bhimdatta Municipality-19 in the district. Police said, "Bista has confessed his involvement in the heinous crime."

Meanwhile, the suspect was presented before the Kanchanpur District Court and remanded to custody for investigation.

According to the Superintendent of Police Dilli Raj Bista at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, "The investigation into the case is nearing conclusion."

Earlier, the victim was brutally raped and murdered before she was dumped into a sugarcane field in the district.
