Palpa/Dang, October 12:

One person died while 24 were injured, eight critically, in separate road mishaps today. Durga Bahadur Ale, 18, of Tansen-3 died after a jeep heading from Nayaranmatales of Palpa district to the district headquarters Tansen skidded off a road at Nayar Chaupari and tumbled 50 metres down, the police said. Ale died on the way to hospital. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Tansen-based Mission Hospital.

In another incident, 15 persons were injured when a bus heading to Pyuthan district from Ghorahi, the district headquarters of Dang, met with an accident at Peda in Saugha VDC-2 in Dang district today. Those injured include Lila Basnet and Anju Basnet of Dubidanda-4, Tulsi Pun and Maniraj Pun of Gairigaun-6, the police said.

Six passengers, who were critically injured, were referred to other hospitals for treatment, the Dang District Hospital said, adding rest of the injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The accident occurred as brakes failed, the police said.
