One killed, 34 hurt in road mishaps

MAHENDRANAGAR: One person was killed and 34 others injured separate road mishaps in three different districts in the past 24 hours.

A person was killed and two others injured when they were hit by a motorbike in Kanchanpur district last night. Yagya Kathayat, a resident of Malakheti-3 was killed when he was hit by a motorbike, police said. Two others Ramesh Kathayat and Bishnu Kathayat were injured in the accident.

In Dhankuta, 18 persons were injured when a bus heading to Dharan from Mude of Sankhuwasabha met with accident in Dhankuta-3 today.

Condition two injured -- Yamkala Rai of Itahari and Surya Bhandari of Terhathum -- is critical, police said, adding that all the injured are being treated in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

In another accident in Saptari, 14 passengers were injured when a bus turned turtle in the East-West Highway today. The accident occurred when the bus (Na 1 Kha 9698) heading to Madar from Rajbiraj met with the accident due to brake failure, Saptari District Police Office said. Condition of Gulab Prasad Gupta is reported to be critical. He was rushed to Dharan for treatment.
