CHANDRAUTA: One person died on the spot and nine others sustained injuries after a jeep carrying wedding attendants overturned in Kapilvastu district on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Pappu Pasi (37), a permanent resident of Debara in Krishnanagar Municipality.

Pasi lost his life after DJ equipment in the jeep fell upon him in the incident that took place at around 9 pm yesterday, police said.

The vehicle, with Indian license plate UP 55 T 0495), was heading towards Bahadurganj from Debara of the district when it met with the accident.

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Bhairahawa-based Universal College of Medical Sciences, informed Assistant Sub Inspector Dipendra Giri of Bahadurgunj Area Police Office.
