DHANGADHI: A person has died while four others sustained injuries in a landslide triggered by torrential rain in Darchula on Wednesday morning.

22-year-old Naresh Wad was killed after debris of the landslide blanketed the house of Man Bahadur BK at Shailya Shikhar Municipality-9 at around 3:00 am today, Police Inspector at Area Police Office, Gokulewshor, Hikmat Bohara informed.

Four other persons who were sleeping in the same house with construction worker Wad ran to safety sustaining minor injuries in the process, Bohara added.

Likewise, vehicular movement along Mahakali Highway has come to a halt after landslides buried the Satbajh-Gokuleshwor road section, local Suresh Shrestha informed.

Although efforts to clear the roadway are underway, incessant rainfall is posing serious troubles.
