KATHMANDU: A person died and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a pickup van in Dhangadhi Municipality-9 of Siraha district on Wednesday night.

The identity of both deceased and injured have yet to be established, informed the Dhangadhi-based Area Police Office (APO).

According to Dhangadhi APO, the incident occurred when the motorcycle plated Sa 7 Pa 6409 was hit by the pickup van plated Na 2 Cha 6227 at 9:00 pm yesterday.

Both the injured rider and pillion rider were rushed to the Lahan-based Ram Prasad Uma Memorial Hospital, however one of them breathed his last on the way there, while the other has been undergoing treatment, informed police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway and search is on for the absconding driver, said police.
