One killed, two injured in Chitwan truck accident

CHITWAN: A person died and two others sustained injuries when a truck met with an accident along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section in Chitwan district in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as driver assistant Bikram Singh, who appeared to be in his 50s, of Belhiya-1 in Rupandehi district. The injured have been identified as the truck driver Bipin Sen (24) of Lucknow, India and a passenger Arjun Agrahari (31) of Belhiya-1.

The truck, bearing an Indian registration number (BR ­32 BN­ 3109) en route from Sunauli to Kathmandu, fell 50 metres below the road injuring three persons aboard at Ghumaune in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29, at 3:50 am today, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.

Of the injured, Singh breathed his last on the way to the Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital, while the Sen and Agrahari have been undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Police said the accident took place while the heavy four-wheeler was overtaking another vehicle.
