Opening borders with China top priority: Kharel

KATHMANDU: Government is effortful to operate trade activities across borders with China, acknowledging the task as an utmost priority, reaffirmed Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Agni Prasad Kharel on Saturday.

Inaugurating the 10th convention of the CPN-UML-aligned Jhapa-Kathmandu Liaison Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday, Minister Kharel said that talks with concerned sides were going on to bring new check points with China into operation, including re-operating Kyirong and Tatopani check points.

Minister Kharel also stressed on meeting the reasonable demands of the Madhes-based parties through constitution amendment. Along with this, he also said that the government is adamant on resolving the crises caused by the ongoing shut downs and the border blockade.
