KATHMANDU: Fringe political parties today floated two options-either to ensure the process of writing the new constitution by May 28 or clear the way for a national unity government-for Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.

During separate meetings with Sarita Giri of Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi), Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, Rishi Kattel CPN (Unified), former minister Shyam Sundar Gupta and

Constituent Assembly member Bishwanath Agrawal, the

PM vowed to make maximum effort to conclude the

peace process within the stipulated time.

Gupta said, “I suggested the PM to clear the way for constituting a national unity government for concluding the peace process on time.” RPP chairman Kamal Thapa said that if the constitution cannot be written by May 28, elections must be announced for the CA will have no valid mandate after May 28.

Sarita Giri suggested that the new constitution will not come into existence if the three big parties did not take all parties into confidence. Rishi Kattel of CPN (Unified) suggested the PM to make the way clear for constituting a national unity government with the involvement of the Unified CPN-Maoist.

The PM, for the last few days, has been consulting regularly with different political parties and leaders and taking feedback for addressing the national agendas of peace and constitution. He, during the meetings, has also been making efforts to take the fringe parties into confidence to defend the no-trust motion against the government likely to be tabled by the UCPN-M at the parliament.
