Over 100 people still in Maoist captivity: INSEC
Kathmandu, January 13:
A study commissioned by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) has stated that there are over 100 people in Maoist captivity in Jajarkot, Pyuthan and Salyan.
The INSEC organised a press conference to make findings of the study public. According to the study, six people — Dipak Dhital, Dila Roka, Megh Raj Thapa, Bhim Thapa, Hari Prasad Bhandari and Resham Pariyarare — are in custody of the Maoists in Salyan district.
The Maoists have been indoctrinating them in Namuna Vidhlaya (school), Siurat VDC-6, Salyan, according to the INSEC.
“They have been teaching them Maoist ideology and claiming that those students of other schools are son and daughters of phataha (rogues),” INSEC chairperson Subodh Pyakurel said after releasing the report.
Maoist cadre Sher Bahadur Oli, judge of the now-dissolved people’s court, has been teaching the Maoists ideology to the students.
Around 100 people are in Maoists’ captivity in Jajarkot, Pyuthan and Salyan. They have been facing the charges of killing and spying during the Maoists insurgency. “This shows that the Maoists are not fully abiding by the agreements reached with the government and the Parliament,” Pyakurel added. One hundred children of commoners and 75 Maoist cadres have been studying in Namuna Vidhlaya. According to the report, the students have a single book with big pictures of Prachanda and ideologies of the maoists.
