Over 400 abducted

Maoists have abducted 400 people including teachers and students from separate schools of Dhading and Sangkhuwasabha districts yesterday.

Maoists kidnapped 10 teachers and 250 students from Rigaon Proposed Secondary School of Rigaon VDC of Dhading and 150 students, some teachers and the headmaster of the Rameshwor Higher Secondary School of Mamling VDC of Sangkhuwasabha.

The locals of Dhadingbesi, the district headquarters of Dhading, said today that the abducted students’ parents have reached there seeking help for their release. Most of the abducted students are from classes seven to ten.

Meanwhile, a report today said that the Maoists have released 150 persons including 12 teachers and the principal abducted yesterday from the Rameshwor Higher Secondary School of Mamling. A local, Sabita Neupane, told this daily over telephone that all the abductees including school headmaster Ram Chandra Poudel have come into contact.

In Damak, Maoists abducted three staffers of the Ratuwamai Afforestation Project of Kerakha VDC, Jhapa this morning. The abdcutees are Ranta Bahadur Gimire of Topgachhi-7, Prahlad Mandal of Saptari and driver Mohan Thapa of Sarlahi.

A group of Maoists had taken control of the men along with the vehicle when they were out on patrolling. Owning the abduction, Maoist secretary of area number 2 Himmat informed media persons over telephone that they would be released after a couple of days.
