Over 700 STD cases in camp

At least 726 Bhutanese refugee women in Sanischare camp are reported to be suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. According to data, there are 21,000 refugees in the camp.

The report darfted by the Plan Nepal and Help Group for Creative Community Development had held a nine-day health camp to check out on the refugees’ health status. Drs Sailoj Dangi and Prerna Dahal of Koshi Zonal Hospital carried out the checks. Bishnu Sharma of Help Group said the anti-HIV/AIDS training was given for six days. Dr Dahal said most of the affected women hesitate to get their health checked.
