KATHMANDU, JANUARY 16

The Finance Ministry has allocated Rs 4.20 billion for upgrading the Bheri Corridor, a key infrastructure project in Karnali Province.

The budget will fund upgrades along the corridor from Tallu in Nalgad Municipality-12 to Tripurakot in Dolpa. Member of the House of Representatives and former Minister for Urban Development, Dhan Bahadur Budha, revealed that the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development had requested the allocation, which the Finance Ministry subsequently approved.

Budha stated that construction activities along the 217-kilometer Bheri Corridor, previously stalled due to budget constraints, would now gain momentum. Upgrading of the 62-kilometer stretch from Jajarkot to Tallu is already underway.

Similarly, of the remaining 56 kilometers from Tallu to Dunai, the 42-kilometer section between Tallu and Tripurakot is set to be upgraded with the newly secured budget.

Sunil Ranjitkar, Chief of the Bheri Corridor Project, noted that with the financial guarantee, the corridor's section-where the Nepali Army has already completed track opening-will now be upgraded through a new tender process.

Former Minister Budha also highlighted ongoing preparations to secure additional funds for constructing a motorable bridge to replace the existing Bailey bridge.
