Oxfam hails accord

Kathmandu, November 15:

International aid agency Oxfam today welcomed the “historic” peace agreement between the ruling seven-party alliance and the Maoists.

Timothy Claydon, Oxfam’s country manager said in a statement: “It is a historic agreement and if it is properly implemented it will create a democratic and inclusive Nepal.”

“The accord brings with it an assurance that the leaders will respect everyone’s social, economic and human rights,” it said.
